In the Lane Configuration tab, you can add more specifications to a Road step including:
- Parking Stops - For each parking stop you can define security features, which also impact the Lane Assessment Security Measures.
- Border Crossings - Border crossings can be added to document borders where the truck is expected to be stopped or parked, e.g. for customs clearance.
- Ferry Crossing - Ferry crossings can be documented with an indication of the ferry operator and ferry terminals. Currently, these ferry crossings do not impact the Lane Assessment.
Parking Stops
For each parking stop, you can indicate the expected duration, as well as the security features that are guaranteed to be available at the parking stop.
In the Lane Timeplan, the application will automatically add another Road Transport process step directly after the Parking Stop, with an initial duration of 0 minutes.
Note: Please ensure you correctly set the duration of the road process steps before and after the parking stop.
When added, the Parking Stop will be indicated in the Lane Timeplan and Overview, with an indication of the selected security features.
Impact on Lane Risk Assessment
The parking stop also impacts the Lane Assessment score, particularly for Security Measures. This impact depends on the following factors:
- The geographical security threat defined for this Road Step.
- The available parking area security certifications TAPA PSR and ESPORG.
- The available security features selected by the user, such as 24/7 supervision, fencing, and CCTV cameras.
This is explained in more detail in the article: Lane Risk Assessment Security Measures.
Border Crossings
When you are using road freight, you might cross country borders during the transport, which is considered an extra step and also has a specific duration.
This can be visualized in Validaide by adding a border crossing to the road step:
You are asked to set the countries where the border crossing takes place, as well as the duration of the step. Optionally, you can also add a comment or instruction, which will be displayed in the process step.
You can add multiple border crossings with different durations, and you can also set different durations for the road transport steps in between.
Ferry Crossings
Similarly to border crossings, you can add ferry crossings to your road freight route. When adding a ferry crossing, you will be asked to enter the following details: the name of the Ferry Operator, the waiting time before ferry departure, the duration of the ferry crossing, and the origin and destination city and country. Optionally, you can also add a comment or instruction, which will be displayed in the process step.
