A lane can be deleted by an Administrator or Editor user.
When deleting a lane in Validaide, it is permanently removed from the database and cannot be restored. However, you can recreate it if needed.
You cannot delete a lane if it is shared with your customer. If you wish to delete it, first you need to stop sharing it.
If the stop sharing button is not clickable or available, there are three steps to check:
- Remove External Approvers - External approvers in the lane must be removed. This can be done in the Version Control tab by clicking the pencil icon to modify user roles.
- Detach the Lane from the SOP – Check whether the lane is linked to an SOP in the Overview tab under the SOPs section on the right-hand side.
Click on the attached SOP to navigate to its page, then detach the lane in the Configuration tab by clicking the button in the Lanes section.
- Remove Defined Packaging – If the lane was created with a specific approved packaging solution (e.g., at the manufacturer's request), it must be removed before the lane can be unshared.
Once you start a workflow with your customer, that cannot be undone, hence the lane cannot be deleted at all.
To delete a lane, go to the Lanes menu, click on the lane, and on the lane profile page you will find the red trashcan icon in the top right corner. Click on it to confirm the action.
Consequences of deleting a lane:
- Your lane gets completely deleted from the database when you click on the trashcan icon.
- Email notifications are NOT sent out to anyone about the lane being deleted.
