Location Configuration
On Validaide we associate the locations with who handles the product at this location. The most important step is to determine whether the location is your own Company Location or one of your Supplier's Locations. In other words, is it owned by your company or another company, which supplies to you / does the handling on your behalf?
There are 2 possibilities when creating a new location:
- Supplier Location: When adding a Supplier Location, it is actually owned or handled by another company, but you are adding it in your own environment as well, to show that it is part of your network and to define your own view on it. E.g. for an Air Carrier, a Supplier Location is the most relevant category since most of your network locations are GHA warehouses.
- Own Company Location: It is a location owned and handled by your company. Typically for an air carrier, it is their hub, but there can be exceptions.
Note that the supplier location icon is a warehouse with a little arrow on top
, while your own location has a warehouse icon without the arrow
.
The different configuration types determine which questionnaire modules you get to answer for the location according to the selected, therefore it is crucial that you configure them correctly.
Please see an example below of how your network should look in the "My Locations" menu:
Add Supplier Location
To add a Supplier Location follow the below steps:
- Go to the "My Locations" menu.
- Click on the
button.
- In the first tab of the pop-up window select the company that owns the location and then select the station you would like to add.
Then you have to select whether they are a direct supplier to your company or not. E.g. GHAs are usually direct suppliers to Air Carriers.
If your supplier supplies directly to one of your locations (i.e. your own warehouse). Usually, this is not the case and the answer to this question is "No". - In the second tab, you have to start the "Workflow" and assign the Responsible and Reviewer roles. (Roles in the Workflow for Defining Capabilities)
- In the third tab, you can request a view from the supplier, but you can also do this later.
- Confirm that the location will be added to your environment.
- In the first tab of the pop-up window select the company that owns the location and then select the station you would like to add.
Delete Supplier Location
Removing a supplier location means that you remove it from your own environment, but this location will remain in our database.
To remove a supplier location go to the My Locations menu, click on the location and on the location profile page you will find the red trashcan icon in the top right corner . Click on it and confirm the action.
Consequences of removing a supplier location:
- You will no longer see this location in the My Locations menu, however, you will still be able to find it in Validaide.
- You lose the capabilities data if you have filled in the questionnaire.
- If you had a sharing request sent out to your supplier, it will be deleted. You will lose their shared view.
- If you are using the supplier location in a lane, the lane itself is not affected, but due to possible capabilities data loss, the lane might become incomplete, i.e. data might become unavailable.
- Email notifications are NOT sent out to anyone about the location being removed.
